A Dangerous Lump of Metal in the Wrong Hands?
A woman driving her car was fined 200 pounds for driving 32 mph. Fined for 32pmh? Actually no. She was fined for putting make-up on at the wheel, which the police called "careless driving" and "irresponsible." I cannot tell you how many women I happen to glance over and see meticulously putting on their make-up while cruising down the interstate, some even while talking on the phone. I thought this was a funny news article worth mentioning. I know, there are many more important things for police to be concerned about than arresting woman applying make-up to their face. But what do you think about this? Here are some comments of a spokeswoman for the North Wales Police: She said: "A car is a dangerous lump of metal in the wrong hands. You need to be in control at all times and Miss Maddock's actions beggars belief." Roger Vincent, a spokesperson for the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents, said: "It is frightening to think what could have happened as she was driving along without her hands on the wheel particularly as this is such an accident blackspot. She was putting her own life at risk and the lives of other people just for the sake of applying her make-up."
