Random Stuff for the Week of 11-25-12/1
This post was intended for last Friday. I have decided to post it today although the content is a little outdated (still playing catch-up). * Justin Taylor (Between Two Worlds) has been posting a series called "What Is the Emerging Church Movement?" These posts are great for getting a firm grasp on the key issues and defining marks of this movement. Here are his posts: Part One, Two, Three, Four, Five, Six, Seven, Eight, Nine, and Ten. * Looks like the A-Team was able to do some blogging @ the ETS Annual Meeting. You can check out their recent posts: James Spiegal on Ethics and Art, Moreland vs. Frank on Non-Foundationalism, and Wayne Grudem on Poverty and Wealth. Although it has nothing to do with ETS, you might also want to check out their post "Is 'Personal Trust' An Essential Component of Saving Faith?" * Steve Hesselman (@ Monergism) has recently drawn up some great portraits called "Hall of Contemporary Reformers" which include the likes of John Piper, Al Mohler, D.A. Carson, R.C. Sproul, James White, Mark Dever, and others. Great work has also been done on the biographical sketch of each individual updated to recent events just this year. To go to contemporary essays in Reformation Theology, click here. Great stuff!!! * Joe Carter (EO) has recently written on "What Does 1+1=2 Mean?" Carter argues that how one answers this question (philosophically) is directly related to what constitutes religious belief. Religious beliefs do matter in spheres of study outside matters of faith and religion. **** Blog of the Week **** Calvinist Gadfly (Alan Kurschner) The Calvinist Gadly is a relatively new blog (August 2005) which addresses theological truths of Reformed theology as well as expose those who falsely represent or erroneously attack the doctrines of grace. Also, you will find what is the infamous Gadfly Award randomly given to an individual regarding the "Arminian Hall of Fame." Most recent to this list is none other than Norm Geisler. I particularly enjoy the clean format and direct approach to the issues Alan addresses. In a day where everyone talks about "conversation" this and "conversation" that, it is refreshing to find someone who is not afraid of a little confrontation from time to time. Be sure to keep up with the Gadfly and the current opponents of God-centered theology. Let me say one more time a very heartfelt "thank you" for lifting up my family and I during these past few days. In the course of the next week, however, I have three papers and four finals. If, for some reason, P&P has stalled posting, you know where I am - praying. - t.n.b.
