God, Evangelicals, Global Warming, and Divine Humor

As many of you know, a group of elite evangelicals got together and developed what is called as the "Evangelical Climate Initiative" pioneered by the likes of Rick Warren. Central to this initiative an evangelical response to global warming. Ted Haggard, a favorite evangelical of P&P says,

"There is no doubt about it in my mind that climate change is happening, and there is no doubt about it that it would be wise for us to stop doing the foolish things we're doing that could potentially be causing this. In my mind there is no downside to being cautious."
Has anyone, including these 86 evangelicals noticed the irony of this past weekend? Record snowfall in the Northeast! Wait a minute, flashes of The Day After Tomorrow is flashing before my eyes. 30 inches of snow, a chuckle, and an affirmation of the sovereignty of God is enough to remind me of why I don't spend my time writing or reading "climate initiatives."

Ugh. The Day After Tomorrow. Liberal propaganda film.

Anyway, we got a hearty snowfall here in North Alabama Saturday night! It was pretty much gone by Sunday, but it was enough to make a snow angel in, which I did.

I don't pay a lot of attention to environmentalists, nor climate initiatives... I agree that the Lord will take care of the planet. At the same time we also bear some responsibility for it, as he gave us dominion over it, so we should be good stewards of the earth just as with anything else.
