POTW :: 03.17.06 :: Blazing Center
No, it is not Friday (as I usually post the POTW on Friday's), but I have been notified that the server at our apartment complex is going to be down from tonight until Sunday (though I will still be able to post at other locations). Therefore, I decided to go ahead and post it today. This picture is of a little cross outside the National Basilica in colonial Quito, Ecuador. I actually got detached from the group and found myself wandering outside, looking for something to shoot (with a camera that is). Contrary to the ornate and extravagant cathedrals and basilicas, this cross picture stuck with me during the trip. The basilica next door had literally millions in gold-plated decor which was the main attraction of tourists. While the basilica may be the center of attention of tourists, the cross is the blazing center for pilgrims going to the promised land.
