Celebrating the Life and Ministry of Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones
Little did I know, but as I made my posts with quotes from Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones, people were commemorating the 25th anniversary of his death (March 1, 1981). I was also ignorant of the MLJ Recording Trust which is a place where you can listen to the 'Doctor' himself. The immensity of this man's impact on evangelical Christianity cannot be overstated, and his life and legacy deserves pause and reflection. Here is the introductory remarks from the frontpage of their website: Welcome to the official web site of the D M Lloyd-Jones Recordings Trust. Founded in 1982, the Trust was set up to restore, distribute and promote the ministry of the late Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones (1899-1981). The 'Doctor', as he was affectionately known, is recognised by many to have been one of the finest British preachers of the twentieth century and was minister of Westminster Chapel, London, from 1938 until 1968. His ministry was based on the clear and systematic teaching and preaching of the Bible, and it was this that has earned him the respect and affection of many throughout the world. It's our prayer that through the ministry of the Trust a new generation will once again discover the importance and the value of expository preaching. On our site you will find much of interest, including sermons by Dr Lloyd-Jones to read, together with a selection of articles about his life and ministry. A full length biography by John Peters, originally published by Paternoster Press, is now available for you to download free of charge. If you prefer, you can listen to Dr Lloyd-Jones in person via our weekly radio programme 'Living Grace', which is now available on-line. The Trust also has a collection of over 1500 of Dr Lloyd-Jones' sermons available on audio cassette, and an increasing number (digitally restored) are now also available on CD and the new mp3 format. These, together with all his currently available books, may be ordered through our own secure on-line shopping facility. Please do pop back and visit us from time to time, as we are frequently updating the site. If you have any comments or suggestions then please don't hesitate to get in touch and let us know what you think. In the comments section of post #2, I shared some of the books/works that I have greatly benefited from and encourage you to check out, and in post #3 there is a link to a biographical sketch by Michael Haykin.
