Newsflash: The Caner Brothers United with BaptistFire Against Those Evil Calvinists!

Every so often I happen to click over to BaptistFire to see what those no-named, faceless, and irrational guys are up to, and lo, on the right side of the front page you see this statement:

  • Editor's note: Dr. Ergun Caner, Dean of Liberty Baptist Seminary and Dr. Emir Caner, Dean of the College at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, have both recently come out with statements warning about Calvinism. This story is developing and we will have more this week including quotes from the Caner brothers ...
I know that many of you are fully aware of BaptistFire and the fact that they carry absolutely no credibility whatsoever, but I thought it incumbent to bring them up to those of you who are new to the table. These guys are the spinsters of Arminianism who have made it their goal to carcicature Calvinists as the heretics who are trying to destroy Southern Baptist churches. They do not allow anyone Reformed on their discussion boards, lest they actually have to be confronted with substance and truthful content. Rather, they are well content to perpetuate lies and provide ammunition to those too ignorant and uninterested to acutally delve into the issue and realize that the doctrines of grace is the heart of the gospel. Rather than encouraging pastors and SBCers to be good Bereans who rightly divide the word of truth, they bear the culpability of fostering numerous churches and leaders who have wrongly divided the people of God and ran off anyone who smells like a Calvinist. They operate on fear and deception and work to inflame people to "beware" of those "crept in unawares." A great example of this is seen here (this article has been debunked by more people than I have time to mention). So it does not surprise me to see the Caner brothers on the frontpage of BaptistFire. They share the same playbook. The only problem is that they have the truth standing against them.
