Hugh Hefner Blames the Puritans

A few moments ago, Hugh Hefner was interviewed by Jane Skinner on FoxNews about his 80th birthday coming up this Sunday. When asked about why the way he was, Hefner commented on how he was brought up in "a very conservative age" in a Methodist, puritanical family. He later goes on to expound on growing up "puritanical," adding how the Puritans who came to avoid being persecuted in England later were persecuting others (I assume when he says "persecution" in the latter sense, he is referring to calling out sinful lifestyles and judging sin). Isn't that just funny? I never realized that the Playboy legacy was founded on Puritanism, or rather a revolt against it. Hefner hopes to be remembered as having a positive contribution to the sexual revolution in the world, but I wonder if he will take credit for also aiding in pornography, infidelity, and a glaring dysfunctional society? This reminds me of the nature of sinful rebellion. Sinners hate the truth. Darkness opposes the light. And it is very clear to see this movement which is called "a sexual revolution" is also a moral degradation which esteems sexual liberation and independence from the natural laws and biblical truths which govern our world. Our world is in revolt against the holiness of God, and the Puritans understood this. They were the brightest lights in Christian history, so it makes sense that the darkness flees and fights so vehemently against such a piercing and provocative light. The Puritans have a legacy, one that far outlasts their lives. Hefner hopes to have a legacy, one which he said will find his resting place next to Marilyn Monroe. Puritans have laid their heads on the breast of Jesus and found an eternal resting place; Hugh Hefner has laid his head on the breasts of women and found his place next to Marilyn Monroe. Yes, there will be two legacies left here. You tell me, which one do you want to be a part of???

Add to that list: sexual abuse, molestation, and rape; broken families; and the spread of AIDS.
